Best of Thailand
7 nights covering the entire west coast — Similan, Surin, Richelieu, Koh Lipe and the route south to Hin Daeng. The only route that combines north and south.
Highlights
- Covers Similan + Surin + Hin Daeng/Muang in the same trip
- Rare combination — few operators run it
- Whale shark chances in both north (Richelieu in March) and south (Hin Daeng early season)
- The crossing between regions includes pelagic open-ocean stretches
About this route
A week-long expedition that does what few other Thai routes do: combines all the best sites on the west coast in one trip. Normally that takes two separate liveaboards.
From Khao Lak north to Surin/Richelieu the first half, then south past Phi Phi to Hin Daeng/Muang the second half, off the boat in Phuket.
Season
December to March. The route needs stable weather for the long crossings between north and south — outside that window, no operator runs it.
What to know
- Premium route. Prices start around 32–35,000 SEK and run up to 65,000 for luxury boats.
- The boat is moving the whole time — you’re not staying at the same anchorage like the standard route.
- Good fit for photographers: each region has its own specialty.
- Transfer: fly into Phuket for check-in at Khao Lak, then back to Phuket for the flight home.
Good fit if you
Have time for 7+ nights aboard, have 30+ dives, traveling in the heart of the season, want breadth over depth.
Skip if you
Have less time — a 4–5 night Similan/Surin trip delivers similar dive quality at the best sites for a lower price.
What you can see
- Whale shark
- Manta
- Leopard shark
- Oceanic whitetip (rare)
